Bret Schundler

Bret Schundler (born January 14, 1959 in Colonia, New Jersey) served as Mayor of Jersey City from 1992 through 2001, becoming the city's first Republican mayor since World War I. Previously a Democrat, he worked for Gary Hart's 1984 presidential campaign. Schundler was the unsuccessful Republican nominee for Governor of New Jersey in 2001. He currently serves as chief operating officer of The King's College, a Christian liberal-arts school housed in the Empire State Building.

On January 14, 2010 Governor-elect Christopher Christie appointed Schundler Commissioner of Education.
