Carshalton is a suburb of London, about twelve miles away from the centre. It is one of the sources of the River Wandle.

Socially, it is a diverse area. Carshalton Beeches is a fairly exclusive area, Carshalton Green and Carshalton Village solidly middle class but the rest of Carshalton is fairly deprived.
