Champotón is a city in the state of Campeche, Mexico. It is the third-largest community in the state, between Campeche City and Ciudad del Carmen. The Maya name Champotón means "Region of the Savanna".

The famous battle "De la Mala Pelea" ("Bay of the Bad Fight") occurred here in 1517 when Spanish Francisco Hernández de Córdoba was rejected by the Mayas.

Champoton's actual economy is fishing and cultivation of coconut, sugar cane, corn and bean.

Here one may find seafood restaurants usually located by the beach.
