Charles Bird King (1785–1862) was an American painter. King painted some 143 of the most famous paintings of American Indian chiefs.

Poor Artist’s Cupboard (1815) is one of King’s most unusual and intriguing works; the painter was best known for his portraits of Washington politicians and visiting dignitaries. [1]
