Charles M. Poston, Sr. (February 14, 1898 – November 27, 1968),[1]> was a railroad employee from Hornbeck in Vernon Parish in western Louisiana, who served a single term from 1960 to 1964 as a Democratic state senator for what is now District 30 (Beauregard, Calcasieu, Sabine, and Vernon parishes. At the time, Poston’s constituency did not include the current precincts in Calcasieu Parish.[2]
Poston did not seek a second term in 1964; instead his son, Bryan Anthony Poston, Sr. (1924-2009), a businessman also from Hornbeck, was elected to succeed him. Bryan Poston held the Senate seat from 1964 to 1992, when he retired and was replaced by James David Cain of Dry Creek in Beauregard Parish.[2]
