The Chicago Bears are a National Football League franchise based in Chicago, Illinois. They are part of the National Football Conference (NFC) and play in the NFC North Division.


History

The Chicago Bears were founded in 1919. They were origanally the Decatur Staleys, named after their founder, A. E. Staley. In 1921, the team moved and became the Chicago Staleys and in 1922, after George Halas (the coach at the time) bought the team from Staley, they became they Chicago Bears. Halas coached the Bears from 1920-1929, from 1933-1942, from 1946-1955 and then from 1958-1967, winning 6 National Championships, 318 regular season games and going undefeated in the regular season twice.

The Bears currently have 27 NFL Hall of Fame players. Some of their most famous players include Dick Butkus, Walter Payton, Gale Sayers, Mike Singletary, Richard Dent and Sid Luckman.
