Their star small forward, LeBron James, has proven to be both a major benefit to the team on the court and a very marketable player. The team won the Eastern Conference Championship for the first time in the 2006-2007, going on to face the San Antonio Spurs in the finals. San Antonio went on to win the series 4 games to 0.

They again went to the NBA finals in the 2014-15 season, the 2015-16 season, and the 2016-17 season. They won the 2015-16 NBA finals by overcoming a 3-1 deficit, the first to do such in a NBA finals.
