The Coffee Party USA is the left-wing version of the Tea Party Movement. It is meant as an answer to the tea parties. Slogan: "Wake Up and Stand Up".

The coffee party movement got its start when documentary filmmaker Annabel Park felt frustrated both over the news coverage the tea parties were receiving and over a perceived lack of representation of her viewpoints in Washington.[1]

The Coffee Party claims "We are 100% grassroots. No lobbyists here. No pundits. And no hyper-partisan strategists calling the shots in this movement. We are a spontaneous and collective expression of our desire to forge a culture of civic engagement that is solution-oriented, not blame-oriented." However, they are funded by George Soros' Open Society group Democracy in Action.[2]

The media, like CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, National Public Radio, and Washington Post, are promoting their actions without the usual name-calling given to Tea Party members.
