College math

College math is generally divided into three fields:

  • analysis: real and complex; calculus
  • algebra: linear algebra and group theory
  • topology

Advanced programs also include differential geometry.

Since about 1900, set theory has replaced number theory as the single largest foundation of most mathematical work.
