A committee is a subsidiary organization of the Senate established for the purpose of considering legislation, conducting hearings and investigations, or carrying out other assignments as instructed by the parent chamber.[1] In non-governmental circumstances, it can refer to any group of people that meets together and makes decisions, larger ones usually worse at the task.[2][3]
