All Conifers are monocotyledons (they start life with one leaf). Conifers have thin, needle like leaves, and are known to retain their leaves throughout the winter season. Conifers are most common in colder regions of the world.

Conifers bear woody fruits that have little or no liquid in them. These fruits are commonly known as pinecones.
