I do not feel comfortable to do it myself, but I'd like to  make a point that there is a message 'NO DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS!!' when I have a look here for help on cite book:
 +
Template:Cite_book
 +
I believe it is so frequently used that it would be nice if this can be fixed. Also I have a suggestion: I'm frequently confused how to interpret parameter 'page(s)' -I'd prefer if there are two such params: one referring to page(s) from where the quote is taken and other referring to total number of pages of the book.
 +
I also suggest there should be a 'cite journal' template available. Thanks for your kind consideration. --AK 04:58, 29 September 2012 (EDT)

Language box
I created Template:Language box. This allows you to create a box with the name of the subject in the appropriate Asian language. Few of our readers can read non-Latin characters, so giving a name in an Asian language in the running text tends to interrupt the flow. This template allows this such characters to be treated as a graphic. See Republic of China for an example. PeterKa 02:31, 9 January 2014 (EST)

There should be a template for stub (very short) articles. Consider the following:

Software template
There probably should be a lot more variables it can take in, but I've created Template:Software for a "sidebar" of software entries. How does it look?  I'd like to set it so that pages using are entered into the Software category, but how would I do that?  Thanks! --David B (talk) 14:00, 16 February 2016 (EST)

Could someone please make a category called "Main_category" (or whatever you choose), that is just like "Main", except that, instead of saying "For a more detailed treatment, see <whatever>" it says "For the main article, see <whatever>".  The existing template is suitable for article pages, while the new one would be suitable for templates that want to show the main article about the template subject.  SamHB (talk) 01:05, 16 April 2016 (EDT)

Date templates
 +
 +
I'm thinking of making before and after templates, so that a phrase can change slightly depending on the current date. For example, I'd like to have a countdown template for the transition from Obama to Trump.
 +
 +
Right now (as I write this), there are 5 days till the inauguration. As Friday gets nearer, I'd like the daycount to go down by one every day. Then on Friday it should say "Inauguration is today". After that, it could say "Trump is president" (or something like that). --Ed Poor Talk 08:06, 15 January 2017 (EST)

  • Navbox Brand-new uber-master template for navigation boxes. Can handle up to twenty lists, with or without group headings. Supports a basic style for all headings, or individual styles for separate lists or group headings. Collapsible, too—if you stack two templates based on it on the same page, only their title bars appear until you click a command (on the far right) to show them again. Supports images, conventional titles, and header and footer bars. FYI, I am using it right now as a replacement for Tnavbox basic; this new template is far more versatile.
  • Tnavbar Auxiliar template for Navbox; provides the title bar with its View, Discuss, and Edit links on the far left.--TerryHTalk 08:37, 1 December 2008 (EST)

    Template:Navigator

Just a general navigator I created at another wiki. Inspiration for bringing here, and an example of where it could be used, are the Kanji pages, for example on the Elementary kanji second year page we could have:

    Levels of Kanji
    Previous Current Next
Elementary kanji first year #PAGENAME Elementary kanji third year

Or something to that effect. Now there are a couple of problems I've found:

    • What to replace #PAGENAME with so the name of the current page is displayed
    • How to allow the displayed name of the Previous/Next pages be different to the actual name (for example, replacing Elementary kanji first year with First Year). I'm thinking the best bet will be using IF statements (e.g. IF name = -Elementary kanji first year-First Year THEN output = First Year or something along those lines, the other alternative is to use multiple inputs, but that gets messy

The first of these points is the easiest to fix, and once it is the template should be ready to be used. We can sort the second point out as we go. StatsMsn 07:28, 2 June 2008 (EDT)

Forgot to say, all required information including parameters can be found at the templates page. StatsMsn 07:29, 2 June 2008 (EDT)

    Template for parodist identification

It might be useful to have a "parodist" template to slap on user's userpages if they are suspected of being parodists. This will help sysops identify the users whose contributions they should look into with scrutiny. Oftentimes brand new users will start their "career" at CP by posting a controversial statement on, for example, the main talk page, without having any meaningful contributions to the encyclopedia itself. Such users are more often than not parodists, and having such a template will help temper them before they go on to do damage. --DRamon 16:30, 31 October 2008 (EDT)

Two things: These were never put in the list of templates, which it seems was supposed to happen. The four of them all go together. I didn't write them, by the way.

Also, the Math-h template has a minor formatting error that, unfortunately, makes it look completely wrong. The prime in "f prime" is nearly invisible. I think the text should be
