What is civility?

Is it "civil" to tell someone to be civil?

Isn't it condescending to do this?

Now, now....

It's kind of like the word "friend". It's a fine word as it is, but only rarely, when used in the second person singular, does it actually mean what it's supposed to mean and usually means the exact opposite. Cracker_talk 16:10, 31 March 2007 (EDT)

Its simple, the truth is ugly, and the facts are uncivil. By mandating a vague code of civility we get to decide what facts are true and which arent. Why do you think this site was started in the first place? --RexMundane 16:19, 3 April 2007 (EDT)

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect civility or remind someone who gets too close out of bounds. Nobody comes to Conservapdia with the intent to be a wiping boy for somebody elses pent-up hatreds and prejudices. And I firmly beleive we live in an age where popular media and public education actually encourages and justifies this sort of incivil blind rage against a persons percieved or imagined oppressors or opponents. We have a great opportunity here--to restore rational civility and discourse to public life. And it can be done more by example than by rules-lawyering. RobS 20:58, 4 April 2007 (EDT)
