Coretta Scott King (1927 - ) is the widow of slain civil rights leader Martin Luther King. While not as vocal, she has continued with his legacy of seeking equal rights for minorities and guarding the memory of her husband.

Some prominent African American (black) leaders are estranged from Ms. King. Although Jesse Jackson was a part of Martin Luther King's traveling circle, his efforts to capitalize on the death of Martin Luther King for his own notariety left a rift that never healed.
