Two geographical regions or political entities are coterminous (synonyms: conterminous, coextensive) when they have identical borders, and cover the same land.[1] An example of this: The borough of Manhattan is coterminous with New York County, meaning that they have the same boundaries and that any area within one of them is also within the other.
