Dallas is the third largest city in Texas, although as a metropolitan area with Fort Worth, Dallas is the fourth largest in the United States, with a population of 5,221,801[1].

Dallas was founded in 1841 and incorporated in 1856. Dallas was the location of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy in 1963. It was the center of the Texas oil boom, and still has many oil and gas companies in the city. The city's economy is also supported by many technology firms, universities and colleges and cultural venues. [2]
