Dana Boente
Dana Boente is currently General Counsel of the FBI.
In his positions throughout 2016 and 2017 Boente likely knew the political activities that were ongoing within Main Justice.
Days before Trump's inauguration President Obama signed an Executive Order that removed Boente from the line of succession to be acting Attorney General, and placing Sally Yates in his stead.[1] The view of Boente as seen from the top tier officials conducting the political operations was that Boente was not in alignment with their goals.
Boente became Acting Attorney General for a period of days when Acting AG Sally Yates was fired. Upon Jeff Sessions confirmation, Boente remained Acting Deputy Attorney General until Rod Rosenstein was appointed.
Boente replaced Mary McCord (DOJ) as the head of the DOJ National Security Division (DOJ-NSD) until January 23, 2018. Boente then was hired by FBI Director Christopher Wray as FBI General Counsel replacing James Baker who was demoted and reassigned.
