Daniel Carroll (1730-1796) was a Founder of the United States who signed the Articles of Confederation and later signed the U.S. Constitution at the Constitutional Convention. He was a member of a prominent Irish Catholic family from Maryland. As a congressman he voted for locating the Nation's Capital on the Potomac, and his family donated most of the land. He also voted for Hamilton's program for the federal government to assume the state obligations arising from the American Revolution.

Daniel Carroll's cousin, Charles Carroll, signed the Declaration of Independence.
