Daniel Ellsberg

Daniel Ellsberg (born 1931) is a former strategic analyst for the United States Department of Defense and the State Department, as well as member of the United States Marine Corps. He is responsible for releasing the Pentagon Papers, secret government documents about the United States' involvement in Southeast Asia, to the New York Times in 1971. He faced criminal charges which were eventually dropped, due to members of President Richard Nixon's staff breaking into his psychiatrist's office.[1]
