She was appointed Democratic National Committee Chair by President Barack Hussein Obama in May 2011. Schultz is a liberal who supports gay rights, abortion, and is anti-second amendment.

Early Life and Education

Schultz was born to Larry and Ann Wasserman in Queens, New York and grew up in Long Island. She attended the University of Florida, earning her bachelor's degree there in 1988 and her master's degree in 1990. Both degrees were for political science.[1]

She is a breast cancer survivor, having been diagnosed in December 2007. She underwent seven surgeries while continuing to work and take care of her family.[6]
