Derry City Football Club is an Association football club based in Londonderry, Northern Ireland. The club was orginally founded in 1928 and were granted by the Londonderry Corporation use of the Brandywell Stadium. Due to alledged persecution by the Unionist government and Royal Ulster Constabulary who deemed The Brandywell unsafe to host football and forced supporters to watch their team in a mainly Loyalist city, Derry City chose to leave the Irish League and joined the League of Ireland in the Republic of Ireland. The Club in 2009 was relegated and then liquidated and reformed.
