Doctor Strangelove, Or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb (1964) is a parody on the hawkish advocates of use of the atomic bomb against the United States' military enemies. It was a successful comedy that continues to have a cult following to this day.
The film was directed by Stanley Kubrick, and starred the British actor Peter Sellers, who played three different roles: President Merkin Muffley, Group Captain Mandrake, and the tittle character Dr Strangelove. Sellers was originally hired to play the role of Commander Kong as well, but because of an injury sustained during filming was unable to perform that role, so Slim Pickens was hried to fill in. James Earl Jones' first role in a film was as the B-52 bombardier, Lieutenant Lothar Zogg.
