U.S. House of Representatives
2014 election
Beyer ran for and won election to the U.S. House of Representatives from Virginia's 8th district following the announced retirement of James Moran from the position.[2]
2016 election
Beyer won re-election in 2016 with nearly 70% of the votes cast.[3]
2018 election
Rep. Beyer handily won re-election in the 2018 Midterms in a landslide.[4]
Tenure
Beyer supported the impeachment coup against Donald Trump since May 2019,[5] being the first Democrat representative from Virginia to do so. He voted in favor of the sham articles,[6] stating that it was "for the future of our democracy";[7] note that the U.S. is a constitutional republic and not a democracy.
A globalist, Beyer voiced opposition to an executive order President Trump signed in late April 2020 that would suspend legal immigration to the United States amidst the CCP pandemic, ridiculously calling it "xenophobic scapegoating".[8]
Political views
Beyer is a liberal who supports abortion, Obamacare, and free trade.[9]
