Dowry death

Dowry death was the killing of unwanted wives in India supposedly with the husband setting her on fire and claiming it was a cooking accident, in order to claim her dowry or inheritance.
Many dispute the claim that this actually occurs. It has nothing to do with Hinduism and may simply be an urban myth.
