Gerardo Murillo (Guadalajara 1875 - Mexico City 1964), Dr. Atl also known as Doctor Atl. Atl in Nahuatl means water. Mexican painter. He was one of the pioneers of the Mexican movement for artistic nationalism. During Mexican Revolution period he became active in the muralist movement along with figures such as José Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera and David Alfaro Siqueiros. He also became friend of Joaquin Clausell.

Dr. Atl's most famous paintings are of the Valley of Mexico and it's volcanoes.
