For other meanings of dwarf, see dwarf.

Dwarves are found in mythical stories or books, such as Eragon, The Lord of the Rings (see Dwarves (Middle Earth)), The Chronicles of Narnia and Norse and Germanic mythology. They are also found in role playing games such as Dungeons and Dragons. They are short, usually bearded and appear to be very old. Dwarves are known for their metal working and mining.

In role playing games and stories such as Lord of the Rings, they are also strong and make for powerful fighters beyond what their size would dictate.

Dwarves have also appeared in feature films, the most famous of which is Snow White and the Seven Dwarves, a children's animation from Walt Disney.
