Emerson College is a Massachusetts private university founded in 1880 as a school of oratory.[2] Today, the school is completely dedicated to communication in the arts;[2] its academic programs are Journalism, Marketing Communication, Org/Political Communication, Communication Disorders, Performing Arts, Film / TV / Digital Media Arts, Writing, Lit & Publishing and Interdisciplinary Studies.[3] Emerson ranked #16 in US News's "Universities-Master's (North): Top Schools" list.[4] The school's 2008 student-faculty ratio was 14:1.[5]

Emerson College has a respected polling operation that uses a good mixture of landline and cell phones.[6]
