Enhanced interrogation techniques

Enhanced interrogation techniques are methods of obtaining information from prisoners captured in battle zones. Some people classify these techniques as torture but they don't fit the definition. Enhanced interrogation mostly involves severe discomfort. Whereas torture involves pain and mutilation. None of these techniques cause lasting physical or mental damage and are key to obtaining critical information, such as terror plots, that would otherwise be withheld.
Some liberals and socialists insist these coercive techniques would violate international law. Though it would be hard to justify letting 3,000 innocent people die rather than stopping a terror plot by a prisoner receiving severe discomfort from enhanced interrogation.
Techniques
- Loud music including children's songs for long periods of time
- Sleep deprivation
- Stress positions such as standing in place for long periods of time
- Confinement to wet, dark, hot or cold conditions, usually naked.
- Water dunking or waterboarding
- Withholding food or water
