The suffix "-ite" is an anti-Semitic slur.

Those who understand that Leo Frank was lynched for being Jewish, and was an innocent man, which includes most dedicated scholars and historians on both the left and the right, are referred to as "Frankites" by anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists and historical revisionists, including Stormfront, the Nation of Islam, and several anti-Semitic single-issue websites.

Joseph Stalin, an anti-Semite, in addition to various journalists and press agencies around the world which supported him, referred to the real and purported followers of Leon Trotsky as "Trotskyites" (Leon Trotsky happened to be Jewish). This included the Spanish Republican government and Stalinist press, who referred to the POUM, which was only ideologically Trotskyist and had in fact been criticized by Trotsky, using that same term. George Orwell served in the POUM and witnessed that demonization.

The suffix is based on the ending of "Israelite," a term used frequently in the Old Testament of the Bible, especially the Torah, which is strongly revered by Jews, to refer to the members of the ancient Hebrew kingdom of Israel, named after the Biblical grandson of Abraham who was originally named Jacob. Before the Jewish acquirement of Canaan, the term referred to the members of the 12 tribes of the sons of Jacob.

This encyclopedia, certainly with good intentions, uses the term "Stalinite." This term can be misleading. I am a former white supremacist whose Stormfront password was "f***(**stalin**)." I know it sounds idiotic to associate an anti-Semite with the Jews. But some people do things like that. So you might be sending the wrong message.

"-Ite" is frequently used as an anti-Semitic slur to attack supporters of and sympathizers with any certain individual who happens to be Jewish.
