In June of 2022, the RationalWiki admin GrammarCommie said that RationalWiki was "half dead".[1] In reply, the RationalWiki user 2friedeggs said: "This site is dying for a reason" and he indicated that GrammarCommie was chasing good faith editors away.

In addition, in June of 2022, RationalWiki user Neiltyson1fan called RationalWiki a "zombie wiki".[2]

Morale is low at RationalWiki. It is just a matter of time before they fly the flag of surrender.

In 2017, Aron Ra wrote to some of his fellow atheists: "...since ya'll have effectively killed what was left of the atheist movement".[3][4]

More and more atheists are flying the flag of surrender. See: Decline of the atheist movement and Morale of the atheist movement

RationalWiki is a politically left-leaning website that skews towards atheism/agnosticism in terms of its worldview.

The RationalWiki website lost a huge amount of web traffic in the latter part of 2019 and throughout most the first half of 2020 (see graphics below). According to the web traffic tracking company Alexa, the website lost global market in the latter part of 2021 (see: RationalWiki and Alexa rankings). In January of 2022, SimilarWeb.com reported that the RationalWiki.org website was dropping in terms of its global ranking of web traffic (see: 2022 state of RationalWiki.org in terms of web traffic and web marketing metrics).

A red wave of Republican/conservative voters has been predicted by pundits in order to give a majority of Republicans in the U.S. Congress and potentially in U.S. Senate as well in the 2022 midterm U.S. Congressional elections.

On May 29, 2022, one of the founders of the RationalWiki website indicated "Currently the donations we get are sparse... We have not done a donation drive in a long time and have not been self-supporting for over a year....".[5] A global fundraising scam, Rationalwiki has not complied with non-profit reporting requirements for 7 consecutive years.[6] See also: Atheism and charity and Atheist organizations and fundraising and Atheist fundraising vs. religious fundraising

Recently, I was posting information about the widely forecasted red wave 2022 midterm elections in the USA at this website and at RationalWiki. I also posted information about how Donald Trump now has a higher favorability rate than Joe Biden and more Americans would like to see Trump reelected in 2024 than Joe Biden (see: Poll: Biden disapproval hits new high as more Americans say they would vote for Trump).

There was a classic 1957 WWII submarine movie The Enemy Below which featured the plot of the American Buckley-class destroyer escort USS Haynes detecting and attacking a German U-boat with hourly depth charges. After a while, the depth charges were rattling the nerves of the German U-boat crew.

It seems my "depth charges" rattled one of the crew of RationalWiki. One of their crew who goes by the username RipCityLiberal (He is an American atheist) posted material about "Escaping the imminent collapse of American democracy" because the Democrat Party is about to receive a shellacking in some upcoming elections. He is now talking about leaving the USA. I have one word to say: "Retreat!"

Specifically, on June 20, 2022, RipCityLiberal wrote: "I'm planning through escaping the country considering you know...everything horrible that's been happening. I would ideally like to go to an English speaking European country, where my politics are more aligned, or an African nation with a stable-ish government where my money can go a long way. Any suggestions?"

As much as I hate to say it, on behalf of all politically right-leaning, American users of the internet, I hereby declare total victory! Operation Enemy Below was a smashing success! Olé! Olé! Olé!

Question: Will RipCityLiberal escape the coming growth of right-wing populism in the world?

Atheism is in decline worldwide in terms of its global market share. See: Global atheism statistics

Questions: If RipCityLiberal moves to Europe, will he escape right-wing populism in Europe in the coming years? Will RipCityLiberal escape the coming growth of right-wing populism in the world?

We live in a world of global communication and since European politics affects American politics, what is happening in Europe? Emmanuel Macron was recently HUMILIATED as Populist Right Scores MASSIVE WINS in France. See: Macron HUMILIATED as Populist Right Scores MASSIVE WINS in France!!!

Marine Le Pen's National Front policy is against Muslim immigration into France.

Islam and pentecostal/evangelical Christianity are growing in Europe. See: European desecularization in the 21st century and Europe's growing Muslim population - Pew Forum and Growth of religious fundamentalism

Professor Eric Kaufmann says about a graph showing the correlation between the projected growth of the Muslim propulation and the rise of right-wing nationalism in a country:

Figure 1 shows an important relationship between projected Muslim population share in 2030 and support for the populist right across 16 countries in Western Europe. Having worked with IIASA World Population Program researchers who generated cohort-component projections of Europe’s Muslim population for Pew in 2011, I am confident their projections are the most accurate and rigorous available. I put this together with election and polling data for the main West European populist right parties using the highest vote share or polling result I could find. Note the striking 78 percent correlation (R2 of .61) between projected Muslim share in 2030, a measure of both the level and rate of change of the Muslim population, and the best national result each country’s populist right has attained."[7]

Brexit was a foreshadowing of Donald Trump being elected president in 2016. This glorious victory of the French right is a foreshadowing of Donald Trump winning the U.S. Presidency in 2024. And there will be a red wave in the 2022 U.S. midterm elections.

In 2019, John Feffer wrote at the left leaning The Nation:

In the Americas, the Trump tsunami has swept across both continents and the 'pink tide' of progressivism has all but disappeared from the southern half of the hemisphere...

In this planet-wide rising tide of right-wing populism, the liberal left commands only a few disconnected islands — Iceland, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Spain, Uruguay... Worse, crafty operators with even more ambitious agendas stand ready to destroy the liberal status quo once and for all."[8]

The website Marketwatch reported concerning the aftermath of the 2016 presidential race: Donald Trump’s win is causing a surge in demand for mental health services.[9] See also: Secular leftists and psychogenic illness

The Religion News Service reported:

For the last decade, atheists, humanists and others secularists have worked hard to organize a “secular vote” that would counter the political clout of the religious right.

President-elect Donald J. Trump’s victory dealt that movement a body blow when he garnered 81 percent of the white evangelical vote and 60 percent of the white Catholic vote. Mormons, too, voted overwhelmingly for Trump.

Despite Trump’s not being a particularly religious person, his platform was seen as anti-secular in many atheist and humanist circles. He said he would appoint religiously conservative Supreme Court justices, ban Muslim immigrants, favor Christianity and repeal the Johnson Amendment, which prohibits certain tax-exempt organizations from endorsing political candidates — issues antithetical to organized atheism and humanism.[11]

The U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, who was appointed by Trump, is a judge who has ruled in favor of religious liberty in his past decisions.[12] U.S. Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch, who was also nominated to the court by Trump, gave a favorable ruling in the Hobby Lobby case in respect to religious liberty.[13]

The 2022 red wave U.S. midterm elections and the reelection of Donald Trump in 2024 are going to be glorious victories and further demoralize secular leftists. See: Decline of the secular left

Many leftists/liberals were extremely upset/angry that Donald Trump won the 2016 U.S presidential race and that anger has lingered.[14][15]

At the 2018 American Atheists National Convention, the ex-president of the American Atheists organization David Silverman declared about the atheist movement post President Donald Trump's election:

It is a hard time to be an atheist activist. This has affected us. And it has affected our community...

...it has really affected us. We are suffering a level of defeatism that I have never seen before...

We feel the loss. And we feel like we have lost. We feel like we lost the election... We see this cascade of attack coming down at us over and over from all different directions and we feel like it's over. I have heard so many times it makes me sick. It makes me sad. It feels like we lost.

The apathy that follows. It doesn't matter. We can't win anyways. It's useless to fight. This apathy is infecting us. It's hurting us.

And people are reacting to each other now. And so that is causing a division. Lots and lots of division in our movement. Hard, bad division... And that has resulted in a splintering and factioning of the movement that I have never seen before and none of us have.

In other words, we're in a bad situation and it's getting worse.[16]
