Federalist No. 16

Federalist No. 16, authored by Alexander Hamilton under the pen name Publius, is the sixteenth of 85 essays. Titled "The Same Subject Continued: The Insufficiency of the Present Confederation to Preserve the Union ", Hamilton continues the discussion of the failures of the then current Articles of Confederation, and argues in favor of a general government(a phrase that was used during the convention) that can act as a unifying force among the states, preventing a dissolution of the colonies.
It was published on December 4, 1787.
