The word Fly is used to describe many types of flying insects of the order diptera (probably from the same baramin). A fly is most often used to describe a house fly, a household pest that lays eggs in garbage which hatch into maggots, the larval stage of flies. Flies are the only insects to have two wings instead of zero or four ("diptera" means "two wings").
