Gabrielle Giffords (born June 8, 1970 in Tucson, Arizona) currently serves as the Democratic U.S. Representative from Arizona's 8th congressional district, having been elected in 2006. She is a member of the Armed Services Committee, Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Science and Technology Committee.

Giffords attended Cornell University and Scripps College in California. She was elected to the State House in 2000, and two years later became the youngest woman ever elected to the Arizona Senate.
