The garter snake is a species of snake that is found mainly in the North-Eastern United States. It is recognizable by its pattern of yellow stripes on a black/brown background. [1] Garter snakes are harmless and non-aggressive; because of this they are popular pets and are many people's introduction to keeping reptiles.
