Garfield St Aubrun Sobers (born 28 July 1936 in Saint Michael, Barbados) better known as Gary Sobers, is a former West Indian cricketer who is considered the greatest all-rounder of all time. He was a left-handed batsman and had the ability to bowl left arm orthodox spin, chinaman (left arm wrist spin), and also left arm fast-medium.

In 1958 Sobers set a 38-year Test record for the highest individual innings when he scored 365 not out against Pakistan, this was also his maiden century. He was also the first batsman to hit six "sixes" in six consecutive balls when playing County Cricket.

Sobers finished his international career with over 8,000 runs and 200 wickets. He was knighted for his services to cricket in 1975 and was selected as one of five Wisden cricketers of the century in 2000.
