Generation X

Generation X consists of people born between 1965 and 1980, although the boundaries of the ages vary. They are typically the children of Baby Boomers. Author Douglas Coupland's 1991 novel Generation X: Tales for an Accelerated Culture led to the popular use of this term to refer to the post-Boomer generation, although it had previously appeared as the title of a 1965 book on UK youth culture by sociologists Charles Hamblett and Jane Deverson and as the name of a 1970s British punk rock band led by Billy Idol.
