Georgia is a state in the southern United States. It was one of the original thirteen British colonies in what is now the United States, and joined the Confederate States of America, Confederacy, before the beginning of the American Civil War. The capital and largest city is Atlanta.

In the 2004 United States Presidential elections, Georgia was a red state, favoring the Republican party[1].

Larry McDonald

Lawrence Patton McDonald ( b. April 1, 1935), a conservative Democratic member of the United States House of Representatives, represented the seventh congressional district of Georgia. He was onboard Korean Airlines Flight 007 when it was shot down by Soviet interceptors just west of Sakhalin Island on Sept. 1, 1983. He was a cousin of General George S. Patton.

He was consistant in a conservative voting record in Congress and one of the most outspoken opponents of Communism in Congress. He also opposed what he believed to be a conspiratorial attempt by powerful elements within U.S government and business circles to further a one world socialist society within America. A major highway in the state has been named after him -Interstate Highway 75, which runs from the Chattahoochee River northward to the Tennessee state line.
