The Girl Scouts of the United States of America (GSUSA) was founded by Juliette Gordon Low in 1912 and is an organization for girls in the United States The GS program developed from the progressive movement in the United States from people who sought to promote the social welfare of young women and as a female counterpart to the Boy Scouts of America (BSA). It has grown from 18 members in Savannah, Georgia to 3.7 million members across the United States.

It is a member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

Girl Scout cookies are a popular treat, sold by Girl Scouts for fundraising purposes.
