Grand Canal

The Grand Canal is a 1,000 mile man-made waterway connecting the Yianjin (the port for Beijing) on the Yellow River and Hangzhou and the Yangtse river in China. It was built around 486 B.C., and underwent significant widening and dredging between 1958 and 1964.
