The Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere was the irredentist, fascist idea of an Asia dominated by Japan and free from any western influence. Japan sought to establish this state during World War II, but failed. It was discussed as a possibility at the Greater East Asian Conference by several leaders of the Axis powers, including Hideki Tōjō, Prime Minister of Japan, Zhang Jinghui, Prime Minister of Manchukuo, Wang Jingwai, self proclaimed president of China (In opposition of internationally recognized Chaing Kai-Sheck, Ba Maw, Prime Minister of Burma, Jose P. Laure, self proclaimed President of the Philippines, (In opposition to the internationally recognized Sergio Osmena), and Wan Waithayakon, Prince of Thailand. Fascist supporters from India were also present as observers. Despite the many representatives, and broad support base in the Axis Powers nothing of note was actually acompleshed at the conference. isit
