Dr. Harry Lee Poe, holder of the Charles Colson Chair of Faith and Culture at Union University in Jackson, Tennessee, is a theologian who has written, co-written, and edited many books and articles on the intersection of culture and the Gospels.[1] He is perhaps best known for his thesis, expounded in The Gospel and Its Meaning, that effective evangelism requires selecting the parts of the Gospel that best speak to the person or group being witnessed to.[2]
He has also written about the life and works of C. S. Lewis[3] and co-edited C. S. Lewis Remembered: Collected Reflections of Students, Friends & Colleagues , and has served as program director of the C.S. Lewis Foundation's Summer Institutes.[4]
Dr. Poe is a distant cousin of Edgar Allan Poe and is the president of the Edgar Allan Poe Museum.[5] Like his cousin, Dr. Poe is a published poet.
