Hernán Büchi

Hernán Büchi.

Hernán Büchi is a Chilean right-wing economist that worked for the Augusto Pinochet regime. He re-implemented the classical liberal reforms that the Chicago Boys started (there was a period when those policies weren't in use in the Military Government). He ran for President in 1989 with the support of the Independent Democrat Union and National Renewal parties. He lost to the Christian Democrat Patricio Aylwin.

He has criticized the open borders immigration policy of the last Chilean governments.[1]
