Horse racing, called at times the "sport of Kings," is a sport where jockeys ride horses in an effort to win a distance racing contest, typically around an oval track.
Horse racing is often accompanied by gambling. However, gambling is not a necessary part of the sport, which is very popular in the United States, as in the Kentucky Derby.
Distances for races and workouts are often measured in furlongs.[1]
