The Humane Society of the United States is an "animal rights" organization, that was founded in 1954. It is often criticized for many reasons.

The former director of the Humane Society of Dickson County once said:

“In terms of actual cash coming down to the local shelters [from HSUS]…There is none.”

Notes show that the HSUS gave only $1,000 of its $133 million budget to support sheltering in the entire state of Tennessee.[1] The Humane Society is also not affiliated with any animal shelter and it opposes the eating of meat.
