  • It has been proposed that this page, Icelandic language, be titled, "Icelandic language".

Icelandic (islenska) is the official language of Iceland. It is one of the most well-preserved languages in the world. The alphabet contains letters not found in the English alphabet, such as æ, ð and þ.

Of all the North Germanic languages, Icelandic is the closest to Old Norse, along with Faeroese. A speaker of modern Icelandic can easily read and understand the Old Norse sagas with little diffculty.
