Idiocracy

Idiocracy is a 2006 dystopian/science fiction film directed by Beavis and Butthead and King of the Hill creator Mike Judge. It depicts a future in which society has dumbed down and deteriorated to a point that a man of average intelligence in the past was considered a genius. In the movie, speech has been severely dumbed down, trash is piled in huge heaps resembling mountains, hyperinflation is present, and 'rehabilitation' is served by slaughtering people with monster trucks. The film revolves around a U.S. army librarian and a prostitute being put in suspended animation and forgotten for centuries before a trash avalanche happens, where he is discovered. He goes to the hospital, not having an Identification tag, and having to get one. He is shown to be the smartest man alive at that point, and after escaping from prison, is pardoned by the president under the offer of saving earth from a dustbowl event happening due to a energy drink being used to water plants. After he suggests using water to water plants, the energy drink company experiences massive losses, and he is hunted down. He is sentenced to 'Rehabilitation', which he miraculously survives.

Some may also refer to a society as an "idiocracy," implying said society resembles the one depicted in the film.
