International Campaign to Ban Landmines
The International Campaign to Ban Landmines is a non-profit organization whose goal is to create an international ban on the use of landmines. The organization was awarded the 1997 Nobel Peace Prize.
Landmines can be detonated by anyone: civilians, soldiers, or even children. They outlast the conflicts and can maim long after the war is over. They are difficult to detect and defuse, often laying dormant for years after a conflict.
