Isaac Soreau (Frankfurt, 1604 - Frankfurt, ca. 1650) was a German - Flemish Baroque Era Still life painter. Isaac and his twin brother Pieter (1604- before 1672) trained under Sebastian Stosskopf. Soreau paid attention to minute details in his work, often including insects painted with precision in oil on coppe. Many of Isaac's still life paintings show profound influence from the Antwerp master Jacob van Hulsdonck (1582-1647). [1]
Soreau, the son of Daniel Soreau an Antwerp painter in Frankfurt, specialized in "table-top still lifes," featuring fruits, flowers, and insects depicted in ways that appeal to the senses. [2] [3]
