Jane Orient, M.D. is executive director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons (AAPS). She has served as executive director of AAPS since 1943. In addition, she is the president of Doctors for Disaster Preparedness and chairman of the Public Health Committee of the Pima County (Arizona) Medical Society. When asked the question, "If you could change or eliminate something about the healthcare system, what would it be?" by Medpage Today, Orient replied, "Third-party payment. Patient should pay doctor; insurer should reimburse patient."[6]

Education
Orient received her undergraduate degrees in chemistry/mathematics at the University of Arizona. She received her M.D. from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
