Jeffrey Zients is a former CEO of the Advisory Board Co. and former chairman of the Arlington-based Corporate Executive Board Co., and is a management consultant recently appointed as "Government Performance Czar," as Chief Performance Officer in the Obama Administration.[1][2] He was appointed in April 2009, and confirmed by the Senate (as deputy director for management for the OMB) on June 19, 2009.[3] Zients reports to the Office of Management and Budget Director Peter Orzag.
Jeffrey Zients is in charge of cutting costs and finding best practices throughout government, a role described to "promote technological innovation in government," though his precise responsibilities are somewhat unclear. Prior to his appointment in the Obama administration, he had never worked in a government position.[3]
